Photography Inspiration

For inspiration on how to shoot the Betty Jackson Ad, I looked at Debenhams as a whole and how they advertise their brand and the models body language etc. I found that in most of their Ads, there's always a positive atmosphere for example the women are always smiling and the images are often lit with soft lighting. In various cases using this type of technique when advertising item/s tends to persuade the consumers to purchase whatever is being advertised, it gives them the desire to look and feel as good as the model/s in the Ads when wearing the clothes.

So for Betty Jackson we wanted to take the same approach, by having the model look very happy, confident and comfortable not only in her own skin but also in what she’s wearing. Again this is very important because that's what Debenhams consumers want to see and it's also what they often see. As for the lighting we wanted something soft, nothing too harsh.

Photography and Lighting Inspiration

I have chosen these two images in terms of lighting and edited because I feel that this type of lighting will be great for the type of shoot we want and for the Betty Jackson brand, there's no extreme harsh shadows on the model or even the background, the lighting is very soft and warm, however there's still a great contrast which goes well with all the colours that has been used. I really like the fact that  all the colours individually stands out on their own, and all come together perfectly to create a very soft look. I feel like when shooting or editing a fashion photograph that is designed to sell clothes or a brand, it's very important to keep it simple however effective, especially if it's for a brand like Betty Jackson. It's also very important to show colour because I feel like that's what will attract the customers, if the images are very dull with no colour/s people won't even look at it twice but when it has some type of colour, vibrance etc it automatically stands out.

Nautical Themed Inspirations

After we decided on what theme we was going to do, I decided to put together a Nautical theme inspiration board using some images that I collected. This board just shows the appropriate colours to use, location etc.

I think it would be better to do a location shoot rather than a studio shoot to get across this Debenhams style
